About

Hi, I’m Veda — an HCI researcher, a first year PhD student at UIUC.

My research sits at the intersection of human-computer interaction, cognitive science, and AI. As a first year PhD student, I don’t know where I am going (right of passage I have been told) but my interests currently lie in different aspects of one’s indentity, their awareness of it and it’s manifestation with technology.

I came to CS through mathematics at Ashoka University in India, where I graduated with a BS (Honors) in Math and CS. I tend to think about computing problems through a cognitive and social lens, not just a technical one. I currently TA for CS 173: Discrete Mathematics at UIUC. I am advised by Koustuv Saha in the onCare Lab.

Outside the lab, I’m a polyglot (English, Hindi, Kannada, Telugu — and slowly, Japanese), love playing random cozy games. My recreational interests largely vary and currently they seem to be swimming and cooking. There are a tonne of books I am interested in reading and currently I seem to be a little more hyperfixated with non-fictional content. (If interested, follow me on GoodReads , it has been relatively up to date right now!)

Feel free to reach out if you want to talk research, ideas, or anything in between.
